It can be very difficult, if not impossible, to find financial data for private companies (especially smaller companies). Unlike public companies, private companies are not required to file financial reports with the SEC.

The best database we have for finding financial information for private companies is PrivCo

After PrivCo, check the following databases:

- LexisNexis Academic
- Hoovers Company Profiles
- ReferenceUSA
- DemographicsNow

The next step is to look for information in articles about the company. The best databases for articles are listed on the the Business Topics databases page. Lastly, don’t forget to scour the company’s website – including their press releases.
