Q. What can I do when people are making too much noise in the Library?

The library's quiet policy (reinforced with signs around the library) asks that library users whisper or speak quietly in the open areas, but to be silent in the Reading Rooms at the back of the Main and Upper levels of the library.

You are welcome to ask people to quiet down, or if it's more comfortable for you, you can ask any library staff member to handle this. Please tell us where the noise is located by sending us a message using the Library Services Chat, or visit a service desk on the main floor. We monitor the chat in real time at the Library Services desk on the main level. We do not ask for your name.
