Primary sources are first-hand accounts of an event, topic, or historical time period and are original documents created or experienced contemporaneously with the event being researched.

In other words, Primary Sources contain raw, original, non-interpreted and unevaluated information.

Visit the Types of Sources area of the Expository Writing Library Research Guide for examples of primary sources.

A Research Librarian can assistance you with finding primary sources to complete an assignment.
